Associate Attorney – Khan Corporate Law

As we are a specialist law firm we are looking for candidates who have gained valuable civil and property law experience in a general law firm and are looking to learn and undertake further training in our key practice areas. Training is provided by firm funded courses, distance learning programmes, as well as direct in-house training from the Lead Attorney.

Qualification and Requirements: A first class or upper second-class Bachelor’s Degree in Law. A post-graduate degree in Law or professional legal or company secretarial qualification will be an added advantage. Applications will only be accepted from citizen applicants with outstanding academic achievements and qualifications from renowned universities that are well-recognised for their LLB programmes. An LLM will be an added advantage but is not required.

Experience: 1-4 PQE (post-qualification experience), must be admitted to practice before the Courts of the Republic of Botswana as an Attorney, Notary Public and Conveyancer and should be fully conversant with conveyancing practice, property law and civil procedure.

Competencies that form the basis on which we will build:

Understanding of substantive contract and delict law. Understanding of the property law regime in Botswana. Excellent written and verbal skills. Analytical ability. Computer literacy and ability to use electronic databases for research purposes. Results oriented and performance driven. Ability to work to deadlines and work the hours required of professional legal staff. Willingness to learn and to engage in continuing professional education for the life of your legal career. Willingness to be trained in new technologies and to embrace the use of technology in legal practice is essential.
