Job Purpose

The person will be responsible for overseeing the treasury operations of the organisation. The position plays a key role in the effective management of the balance sheet and associated risks through generating, evaluating and making recommendations on treasury business and asset and liability management (ALM) strategy.

The Role

The right candidate will be responsible for, amongst others, the following:

• Formulating, reviewing and driving the treasury strategy of the institution.
• Driving the investment and credit exposure levels to grow the value of the institution’s investments.
• Overseeing the working capital optimisation and ensuring regulatory compliance
• Driving the fundraising initiatives across the institution to raise funds for capital requirements.
• Ensuring access to funding for liquidity and capital adequacy and creating value through trading in forex and money market instruments.
• Managing the institution’s treasury related risk, as well as owning and contributing to compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Providing an overview of financial risks the institution is exposed to and providing insights to the Asset and Liability Management Committee regarding the management of financial risks.
•  Ensuring that all interest rate risk is minimised, or managed within guidelines, limits set by the institution and in adherence to regulatory requirements.
•  Providing support and assistance to internal and external auditors wherever required.
• Ensuring effective people management.

The Person

The right candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Commerce or Management Studies.
•  Possess a minimum of 8-10 years in a similar environment, with a minimum of three years at senior professional or management level in a banking environment.
•  Have a track record of success at senior management level in a banking environment.
•  Have strong experience in treasury management
