A leading publisher of educational products In Botswana is seeking to appoint a General Manager. The General Manager will be responsible for managing strategic relationships – internal and external, the overall operations, commercial functions and increasing the company’s growth in collaboration with their line manager.

- Strategy: drive and support the implementation of the company strategy
- Operations: develop and manage operational plans to ensure that all aspects of the business operate smoothly and within set timeframes
- Stakeholder relations: maintain relationships with current stakeholders and build new networks and opportunities
- Financial management: manage the full financial operations and requirements of the business
- Human Resource management: manage the performance of staff, recruitment and training of new staff as and when the need arises
You are:
- seen by your peers as authoritative but not autocratic, a confident leader and a team-player
- an experienced, business-savy individual with excellent networking skills
- a university graduate, ideally in commerce (an MBA or similar postgraduate qualification would be advantageous)
- able to demonstrate an understanding of how to manage relationships with government and other external stakeholders.
- experienced at working with senior management and board level
- passionately driven by a personal desire to succeed within a collaborative environment
- ability to drive staff morale and keep a highly motivated team
You have:
- a minimum of five years commercial and senior management experience
- strong people management skills and experience
- strong interpersonal skills
- demonstrable negotiation skills
- strong administrative and budget-management skills
- outstanding written, verbal and presentation skills
- the ability to deal with a multitude of diverse challenges
- excellent ICT skills especially in the Microsoft Office suite
Experience in the government and/or education sectors will be advantageous.
Short-listed candidates will complete a psychometric test to verify suitability for this position.
