Our client in in the mining industry is seeking suitably qualified citizen candidates, who are highly adaptable and resilient, for the position of General Manager.

Responsible for the overall management of the Mine including safety, planning, budgeting, staffing, cost containment, regulatory compliance and target achievement.

Key Performance Areas
• Lead the Care and Maintenance management team and manage all mining personnel and resources
• Determine, implement and monitor Care and Maintenance strategies, activities, plans and reports
• Recognise and anticipate operational, technical and safety challenges, take action to prevent or overcome them, and seek continuous improvement
• Ensure implementation and adherence to BCL’s Safety, Health and Environment management programmes and objectives

• Oversee budget preparation, and monitor and report performance and costs
• Identify potential risks and ensure processes are established to manage appropriately
• Oversee projects such as rehabilitation or reprocessing projects as well as projects to redress the lack of care and maintenance undertaken on the mine prior to liquidation
• Direct the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure adherence to mining standards, organizational standards and legislative requirements and engage with regulatory authorities to maintain healthy relationships and achieve Company objectives
• Propose capital expenditure projects to improve care and maintenance operations

Requirements
• A Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
• At least 10 years’ post qualification experience in Mining, 5 of which should have been at Senior Management level
• Underground mining experience essential
