Job Summary

To accurately sort diamonds from gangue or vice versa and perform other related sorthouse activities. In order to improve diamond recovery, while adhering to diamond control guidelines and standards.

Minimum Requirements

• 0* levels or BGCSE or equivalent
• Sorting experience in the Diamond industry will be an added advantage Key Effectiveness Areas
• Recommends and incorporates cost-saving initiatives into budgets.
• Sorts and scrapes diamonds from concentrate material and discards tailings.
• Identifies and removes non-diamonds from diamonds at adequate sorting rates to achieve acceptable product quality standards for dispatch.

• Reconciles diamond production by weighing diamonds and recording before and after mass information in the
• Diamond Accounting System to check and confirm that they are within tolerances and reports to supervisor.

• Imports and exports dock locks and canisters as per the procedure
• Manually transports diamonds from one station to the other as per requirements e.g. sort house to vault shipment station/sorthouse to CAC.

• Stores and accounts for sample diamonds in the vault in accordance with procedure.
• Completes the consignment documentation for shipment of diamond samples.
• Inspects the condition of gloves, dock lock canisters, glove boxes, feeders, valves, transfer belts, scales, e.t.c. to detect any faults or potential future faults.
• Installs new or replaces equipment to ensure safe work practices and optimal installation, taking cognisance of operational, safety and security issues as directed by Sorthouse Coordinator.
• Purges bins, pipes, chutes to prevent contamination of material sources.
• Adheres to diamond control policies and procedures in the sorthouse by rectifying and communicating to the Sorthouse Coordinator any risks in the sorthouse.
• Cleans and reports all spillage occurrences.
• Maintains seals and keys records in accordance with procedures and reports deviations.
• Adheres to all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures in the area of responsibility
