SENIOR BUYER – JB SPORTS

JB is a local retail company established in the year 1994. The company has developed from a sports shop to a successful fashion and lifestyle retail store. We are currently looking for a SENIOR BUYER.

OVERALL JOB FUNCTION:
To plan and select a range of products to sell in our retail outlets and to develop buying strategies to grow the company. Sourcing new merchandise and review existing items to ensure products remain competitive. Understanding customer needs, and being able to maximize profits and provide a commercially viable range of merchandise at competitive prices. Additionally, research market trends to increase and create more attractive offerings.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF ROLE:

• Handling the brand buying done in both local and international markets with the team of buyers.
• Store visits in the various countries we operate in so you can understand the floor and the mix better to increase buying efficiency
• Travel with the buying team with regard to in house production and sourcing trips which is done in overseas countries
• Working closely with the planning department to ensure maximum buying efficiency
• Liaising with other employees about sales performances
• Managing stock levels
• Pitching new ideas
• Visiting fashion shows and trade fairs to look for new products
• Negotiating prices, quantities and delivery time scales
• Assessment of new markets the company enters to determine what type of products we need in said market

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Business related degree or equivalent
• 4-7 work experience, in Merchandising Buying
• 2 years of supervisory experience, preferred
• Office experience- IT Skills, using internal systems, proficiency using Microsoft Office programs (Excel in particular)
