RETAIL MANAGERS wanted at Sefalana Cash & Carry

Sefalana Cash & Carry, a leading distributor of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in Botswana, has opportunities for experienced retail managers at its various supermarkets located across the country. The successful candidates will undergo a basic three (3) to six (6) months training to familiarize them with the company’s systems and procedures, business model and corporate culture.

The ideal candidate must have:

• a minimum of a Botswana General Certificate in Secondary Education (BGCSE) or an equivalent qualification. A higher academic qualification will be an added advantage.
• at least five (5) years work experience in a management position within an FMCG environment; especially in a retail/supermarket business environment.
• Solid knowledge and exposure to both general merchandise and service departments
• a good understanding of managing a business and ability to drive key performance areas.
• be willing/prepared to relocate to anywhere in Botswana where the business has operations.
• ability to supervise a team and inspire the team to achieve a superior business performance.
• be a passionate trader, stern on enforcing internal controls and aware of consumer trends
• a valid Class B driver’s license.

On completion of training the position holder will be expected to:

• supervise subordinates to ensure that the team is motivated, disciplined and productive.
• identify and utilize opportunities to grow the business’s sales revenues as per the set targets
• monitor the procurement function to ensure proper stock control and meet customer needs.
• ensure the maintenance of high visual merchandising and house-keeping standards always.
• monitor pricing decisions and ensure that the business achieves the set gross profit targets.
• ensure adherence to the company’s credit control policy/procedures to minimize credit risk.
• manage operational expenses and ensure that the business meets the set financial budgets.
• implement loss control measures to minimize stock losses and loss of any company assets.
• build and maintain business relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
