Position Tax Accountant

Qualifications

Full AAT plus progress with a full professional qualification such as ACCA or ACA. A pass in the ACCA Botswana Tax variant will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities include

Reporting to the Supervisor Tax, the resource should have the following capabilities:

1. Have a good understanding and working knowledge of Botswana tax legislation, returnsand requirements
2. Be able to prepare all Income tax, VAT and WHT returns for clients
3. Be able to online register all new clients in the BURS system
4. Draft and submit objections/appeals and liaise with BURS officials on any tax assessments on a need basis
5. Apply and obtain tax clearance certificates for clients
6. Be able to review all draft annual financial statements and prepare the related tax computations
7. Estimate, advise and process SAT payments for clients

Experience & Skills

• Must have worked in a similar capacity with a professional services firm or with the tax authority for a minimum period of 2 years
• Must be comfortable using the BURS E-Services portal in the submission of all tax returns
• Must have dealt with a variety of clients on wide ranging tax matters
• Must be proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office applications.
