Foods Botswana is in search of a high caliber, self-motivated candidate to fill the following position tenable in Gaborone.

SENIOR LAB TECHNICIAN

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure effective functioning of the Quality department and relevant systems to support production and to comply with customer requirements.
• Drive and implement /sustain ISO, HACCP and quality management systems to ensure that a structured continuous improvement is practiced/ applied and QMS audits findings and customer raised corrective actions.
• Recommend and implement quality control improvement measures and investigate reasons for poor quality products.
• Monitor all operations in the plant including receiving of raw materials, processing operations, any form of handling materials and general sanitation to ensure that they comply with recommended practices, standards and specifications.
• Advises the Operations Manager for trends in the laboratory test results to facilitate decision making and proactive problem solving.
• Prepares reference samples for external laboratories to verify test data, in order to have own work verified by independent body.
• Reports on the performance of and advises on the purchase and/or maintenance requirements of laboratory equipment, ensuring that equipment performance is of a high standard at all times.
• Provides on the job guidance and training to Quality personnel in the day to day completion of their collecting samples and preparing for tests and cleaning equipment to transfer skills and ensure high standards of productivity.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor of Science in Food Technology or equivalent.
• Sound knowledge of Quality Management System and other BOBS Standards and Regulations for Food Industry.
• Five (5) years post qualification experience in a food processing companies or in an approved food research laboratory.
• Excellent communication, analytical skills and strong leadership skills.
