BENEFITS:
- Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and Employee pays 50%).
- A contract of 24 to 60 months, with gratuity at the rate of 30% payable upon expiry of the contract.
QUALIFICATION:
Degree in Economics, Finance, Business or equivalent qualification.
EXPERIENCE:
At least eighteen (18) years work experience in financial, taxation, insurance and retirement funds policy development and implementation, two (2) years of which must have been served at E1 salary scale in the Public Sector or equivalent in the Private Sector.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To oversee and provide guidance on formulation of financial, taxation, insurance and retirement funds policies and initiate proposals for promotion of a sound financial sector system, including capital market development.
DUTIES
- Formulation of insurance, retirement funds, finance, banking and tax policies, including legislative frameworks.
- Oversight of related financial policy parastatals.
- Liaises with the Bank of Botswana on Monetary Policy and legislation on banking issues.
- Serves on national committees dealing with trade in financial services and participates in trade negotiations relating to same.
- Participates in the work of the SADC Committee of Insurance, Securities and Nonbanking financial Authorities.
- Monitors the implementation of insurance, retirement funds, financial, non-banking and tax policies.
- Coordinates negotiations of double taxation avoidance agreements.
- Coordinates and participates in the work of the Southern African Customs Union (SACU).
- Prepares and implements human and financial resources budget for the SubDivision.
- Supervises the functions of the Finance & Banking Policy, Insurance & Retirement Funds Policy and Taxation Policy Sections.
