VACANCY: SENIOR GEOPHYSICIST-SEISMOLOGY

JOB SUMMARY

To develop seismological monitoring strategies and execute the same for seismic hazard mitigation, as well as conducting seismological research and development of seismic models

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Master’s Degree in Applied Geophysics/Geophysics from a recognised ono accredited institution.
• Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in earthquake seismology.
• Knowledge in project management and a proven track record in com­pleting projects ono or programmes.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Manages seismic network stations
• Plans, schedules and executes and resources for seismological projects
• Conducts seismological research work
• Validates data for quality control
• Analyses and interprets seismic data
• Produces seismic reports and publications
• Identifies suitable data processing techniques for best practice
• Supervises and coaches junior Seismologists
• Disseminates monthly earthquake information, including phase arrivals to International Seismological Commission
• Prepares ad-hoc earthquake information and advises stakeholders and clients accordingly
• Carries out public education and sensitisation on earthquakes
• Identifies and recommends to the Manager relevant local and interna­tional collaboration projects
• Carries out Sectional budget estimations and cost controls
• Review standard operating procedures for the Section
