ACCOUNTANT – FIXED TERM CONTRACT (6 MONTHS)

The company is looking for a dynamic and energetic individual to fill the position of Accountant in the Finance Department. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the incumbent will be required to organize and supervise administrative and accounting activities for the company for smooth execution of operational functions and support excellent delivery of service to clients. This position is tenable in Gaborone.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

COMPETENCIES

• Supervision of administrative and accounting activities relating to payments to creditors and service providers in line with requirements and accounting standards.
• Assist the Finance Manager with operational and capital budgets.
• Timely and accurate reconciliation of all ledger accounts.
• Timely and accurate clearance of outstanding ledger reconciling balances.
• Accuracy and availability of financial and accounting records.
• Timely and accurate production of monthly management reports and forecasts.
• Timely and accurate production of weekly and monthly cashflow statements and forecasts.
• Timely and accurate production of Annual Financial Statements (AFS).
• Timely and accurate production of monthly budget variance reports.
• Preparation of quarterly and annual consolidation packs.
• Audit liaison for both Internal and external auditors.
• Timely and accurate clearance of all audit findings.
• Minimal internal and external audit queries.
• Minimal customer/supplier queries.

REQUIREMENTS

• ACCA/CIMA or Accounting Degree or equivalent
• 3-5years post qualification ‘experience.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
• Knowledge of Accounting Software Packages and at least intermediate-level proficiency in Excel.
• Knowledge of applicable legislation landscape.
• Knowledge of IFRS.
• Insurance or financial services experience as an added advantage.
