SENIOR ACCOUNTANTS ASSISTANT – FIXED TERM CONTRACT (6 MONTHS)

The company is looking for a dynamic and energetic individual to fill the position of Senior Accounts Assistant in the Finance Department. Reporting to the Accountant, the incumbent will be required to ensure timeous payment of the company’s liabilities, generation of monthly and other financial reports to be checked by the Accountant and reviewed by the Finance Manager and assist in the performance of audit work in all departments. Also, support the Accountant in an administrative function. This position is tenable in Gaborone.

COMPETENCIES

• Reconciliation of control accounts and preparation of accounts schedules.
• Compilation of monthly audit file for review by the Accountant.
• Performing of bank and other reconciliations and timeous clearance of outstanding items.
• Timeous settlement of liabilities, including taxes.
• Compliance with company and taxation legislation.
• Prepares payment vouchers for creditors and other payments on time to be checked and authorized by the Accountant.
• Attendance to year-end external audit process.
• Business acumen.
• Client/stakeholder commitment.
• Drive for results.
• Analytic and detail-oriented, with good organisational skills.
• Good communications skills.

REQUIREMENTS

• Accounting/Finance Degree.
• In the process of attaining a professional qualification.
• 2-3 years accounting experience.
• Computer literacy and proficient with Excel.
• Insurance or financial services experience as added advantage.
