National Buyer wanted at Sefalana Cash & Carry

Sefalana Cash & Carry, a leading distributor of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in Botswana, has an opportunity for an experienced buyer to fill the position of National Buyer. The position is tenable at the Head Office in Gaborone.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. A bachelor’s degree qualification in any field of study. A higher academic qualification in business management, commerce or procurement will be an added advantage.
2. At least ten (10) years work experience within the FMCG sector as a buyer for various product categories at a regional or national level. In addition to that, work experience in managing a business operation in the FMCG sector will be an added advantage.
3. Proficient in procurements of varied product categories e.g. foods, toiletries, and nonfoods.
4. Conversant with consumer trends and able to capitalize on such trends for business growth.
5. Possess effective negotiation skills that are required for securing a competitive advantage.
6. Be able to establish and maintain good relationships with suppliers and other stakeholders.
7. Possession of a Class B driver’s license.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position holder will perform the following roles:

1. Liaise with the branches on centralized buying initiatives and attend to their queries.
2. Source for new suppliers and product offerings to enhance the company’s product mix.
3. Perform due diligence checks on all new suppliers before listing them with the company.
4. Negotiate good trading terms with suppliers to enhance the company’s market position.
5. Evaluate the current product offerings to meet customers’ product/services needs.
6. Review management reports to assess business performance against the set key indicators.
7. Participate in biannual supplier reviews and identify opportunities for business growth.
8. Plan, run and review sales promotions to ensure that they are effective and used optimally.
9. Achieve the set sales growth targets for each product category under his/her portfolio.
10. Establish relationships with key stakeholders to enhance mutual business support.
