Fabrication Heavy Steel Coded Welder – Delswiz Manufacturing

The Role:

To carry out Heavy steel welding/fabrication tasks to a high standard as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fabrication of Mild steel and Stainless steel components as required ensuring that the highest standards in finish and tolerances, in accordance with information supplied, are achieved using sound “trade” methods.
• Weld components and framework using a variety of welding processes.
• Position, align and fit parts according to specifications.
• Grind, sand, polish and detail fabrications to required finish using hand and power tools to a high standard.
• Measure and examine completed work to verify conformance to specifications.
• All Fabrications tasks are to be completed in the agreed (quoted) time frames or better.
• Operation of manual machine tools, as part of the fabrication process when required.
• Machines to be kept in a tidy and well maintained manner, which would require maintenance be undertaken from time to time.
• Share industry knowledge/train apprentices.
• Ensure that the supply of consumables, i.e. gas, welding wire etc. does not run which could affect the job.
• Work with the Manager to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
• Maintains tools, gauges and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
• Display flexibility to work in other departments and overtime as necessary to assist the company in meeting production goals.
• Liaise with design team and give input into new designs.
• Complete administrate tasks as required.
• Report drawing errors.

Key competencies

• Proven knowledge and experience of Industrial Fabrication.
• Minimum 8 years Industry exposure.
• MiG weld mild steel to 2980 ticket standard.
• TiG weld mild steel and stainless steel to industry standards.
• Knowledge of metal finishing techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, weld procedures and work instructions.
• Ability to recognise welding symbols and specifications.
• Demonstrated planning skills.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Capable of training apprentices.
• Have a current driver’s license (advantageous).
• Be customer and results focused, have integrity, and be a proven team-player.
• Detailed knowledge of Tekla detailing software and Fabtrol Steel management Software

Qualifications

• Relevant Trade qualification – Welder/fabricator/Boilermaker etc.

Desirable

• Knowledge within mining and power generation Industries
