The University is looking for a qualified and experienced individual for the below-stated position; The position offered on a pensionable or fixed-term contract of up to five (5) years.

MANAGER, PROCUREMENT

REF: FS 21/04

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To co-ordinate and manage the activities of the inventory control standards, purchasing standards and all requirements in respect of materials and related services. To provide procurement services, monitor logistical arrangements and administer the supply chain database and maintenance of information system.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education;
• A Degree in Business, Accounting/ Accounting with supporting Supply Chain Management/Project Management/ Contracts Administration /Supplies and Logistics.
Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
• Professional: Membership of a professional association of purchasing and supply such as CIPS is a must.
Experience;
Three (3) of which should have been at a similar equivalent level (senior level management position in materials supply function and contracts management).

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Development of University wide procurement plans
• Manage the procurement cycle including tendering, review of bids and contract management
• Stock control including ensuring that adequate supply of all required materials, components and equipment
• Makes sure that all supplier programs are current and accurate.

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS REQUIRED:

Forecasting, budgeting, communication and project Management.
• Ability to lead and develop a cohesive and effective team to achieve optimal results and integrity at BIUST
• Ability to communicate clear budget forecast and contract strategies and programmes.
• Willingness to take on the challenge of a new university and to manage effectively through its development phases.
