QUANTITY SURVEYOR

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Our client is recognized across the SADC region as a reputable provider of world-class and cost effective solutions in the fields of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. The client seeks an experienced candidate the following position:

QUANTITY SURVEYOR

The main purpose of this role is to oversee projects and manage risk by estimating and controlling costs from concept to final delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Interpret site plans and attend preparatory events such as pre-bid meetings, site visits and field measurements as needed to facilitate estimations
2. Measure and value materials required in order to produce bills of quantities, contracts and budgets
3. Select and source materials in line with construction standards and agreed resource budgets
4. Measure and value work done to produce interim payment certificates
5. Track changes to the project and adjust costs and other related contractual details and projections
6. Identify and procure any contractor or sub-contractor resources as necessary
7. Produce reports as necessary
8. Collaborate with engineers and other project stake-holders to facilitate completion within budgets
9. Actively participate in identifying new job opportunities and securing work for the organization

Minimum Qualification and Experience:

• Must be registered with QSRC or recognized equivalent with at least a diploma in Quantity Surveying and direct experience of project management on relevant software. Experience in electrical works will be an added advantage.
• Must have a track record of effectiveness shown by value of successful contracts previously involved in over at least the past 5 years in a similar position.
• Must be able to read construction blue-prints/specifications, as well as write and interpret contracts.
• Must be fluent in English and Setswana, able to communicate equally in written and oral formats
• Must be able to observe confidentiality and work to tight deadlines and pressure points
• Ideally be a problem solving, principled and reliable professional
