Diamond Driller/Trainer

Barminco is one of the world’s largest hard-rock underground mining service providers with over three decades of international experience. As part of the Perenti Group, Barminco employs over 4,300 people, at 22 projects in seven countries. In line with an opportunity that has presented itself in our Botswana operations, we are seeking applications from qualified and experienced Diamond Driller/Trainer to join our team. The position will be based at Zone 5 under Khoemacau Copper Mining (KCM) located near Maun in the north west of Botswana.

DIAMOND DRILL TRAINER

Purpose

• To operate and provide training to understudies In the safe and efficient operation of Underground Diamond Drills and associated activities required of a Diamond Driller.

Key Responsibilities/ Requirements of the Position:

• Responsible for maintaining a safe work area as per Diamond Drill work standards.
• Provide clear Instructions to understudies both verbally and In writing and ensure Instructions are clearly understood.
• Ensure subordinates are trained and comply In the use of mandatory safety and protective equipment.
• Be familiar with all relevant work and safety procedures Issued by Company and Operator.
• Mentor, monitor and provide regular reports on the development of understudies.Compile daily drilling reports for the activities performed during his/her shift describing the work carried out and the equipment utilized.

• Ensure that good housekeeping Is maintained within work areas and on drilling rigs.
• Maintain drilling consumable stock levels and record usage.
• Dally Inspection of equipment and reporting of condition.

Required Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum 5 years experience In underground drilling, and be familiar with Boart Longyear LM90 and Newlands Erebus Mobile Drill rigs.
• The Individual has safety, communication & supervisory skills.
• Cert 3 Drilling or equivalent (desirable).
• High level of computer literacy, confident with Microsoft Office Software packages
