Purpose of the Role

To drive and operate a Cable Reeler in accordance with Debswana standards and legal requirements

Key Job Responsibilities

Recommends cost saving initiatives for inclusion in sectional budget process
Conducts Risk Assessment before the commencement of any work as per laid down policies and procedures
Disembarks from machine to refresh as per the laid down policies and procedures
Drives/operates machine between sites in accordance with existing policies and procedures
Hoist cable onto tower using chain block
Performs visual checks on machinery/equipment in order to establish any defects, assessing specific requirements and reporting findings to the supervisor/dispatch as appropriate
Records fuel quantity filled (Jwaneng uses system to record)
Drives/Operates the machine to do cable reeling in accordance with the existing operating policies and procedures
Interacts with fleet management systems as per the policies and procedures
Consistently communicates with the Dispatch Foreman, Shift Foreman and other crew
Performs tasks of a predominantly manual nature which includes but not limited to; cleaning of the cab, cleaning of the machine body as and when required

Other Job Responsibilities

Adheres to all safety, health and environmental policies in area of responsibility taking cognisance of all legal requirements

Education

O Level

Experience

2 years experience in a mining environment

Legal Certification/Professional Registration

Drivers License – Class B
Must have a valid competency certificate for CAT988H Cable Reeler
Must pass Vienna test
