MANAGERS IN TRAINING

Sefalana Cash & Carry, a leading distributor of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in Botswana, has opportunities for experienced managers at its various outlets across the country. The successful candidates will undergo a basic three (3) to six (6) months training to acquaint them with the company’s systems and procedures, business models, and corporate culture.

The ideal candidate must have:

• a minimum of a Botswana General Certificate in Secondary Education (BGCSE) or an equivalent qualification. A higher academic qualification will be an added advantage.
• at least three (3) years’ work experience in a defined management position within an FMCG environment as either a Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Departmental Manager (e.g Liquor, Foods, Non-foods, etc.) or an equivalent position.
• a strong business acumen, resilient, and able to deliver on business objectives efficiently.
• be willing/prepared to relocate to anywhere in Botswana where the business has operations.
• strong supervisory skills; able to motivate diverse teams to enhance business performance.
• proficient in interpreting financial reports and able to develop corresponding action plans.
• be self-driven, customer-centric, attentive to details, and observant of consumer trends.
• a valid Class B driver’s license.

Upon successful completion of training, the position holder/s will have the following responsibilities:

• supervise a team of staff members within a designated branch or business department.
• support human resource development initiatives as per the company’s business strategy.
• identify sales opportunities to ensure that the business achieves the set sales revenue targets
• supervise the purchasing function to ensure proper stock control and meet customers’ needs
• manage operating expenses and ensure that the business reaches the set financial budgets.
• apply shrinkage control measures to minimize stock losses and advise senior management from time to time on initiatives that could help to prevent stock losses.
• ensure that merchandising standards are adhered to as per company policies and guidelines.
• build and maintain fruitful relations with external stakeholders: customers and suppliers.
