SENIOR PUBLISHER

Collegium, a well established Botswana Publishing Company has a vacancy for a Senior Publisher.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop the publishing list across print and digital products based on relevant curricula, according to schedule and within budget
• Manage titles and processes through the full publishing process from commissioning to final product
• Commission and liaise with authors
• Manage freelance service providers
• Prepare and control project budgets
• Negotiate author contracts within company guidelines
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and role players in the industry
• Facilitate training workshops on developed product
• Ensure accepted quality and content standards as well as compliance with curriculum requirements in all products
• As part of a small team; willingness to assist other functions as and when required is essential

Minimum qualifications and experience

• A degree in a relevant field (publishing, languages) and a qualification in education
• At least 3 years’ teaching experience in Botswana
• A deep understanding of curriculum and pedagogy
• A minimum of 4 years’ experience as a school textbook educational publisher
• An understanding of file formats applicable to the development of content for print, mobile and digital delivery
• A sound knowledge of trends in the Botswana educational market
• Competence in using a variety of ICT devices
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (in particular, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) (a proficiency test will be conducted)
• Driver’s licence
