VACANCY: SENIOR MEDICAL OFFICER X3 (TENABLE AT THEBEPHATSWA, FRANCISTOWN AND GLEN VALLEY)

VACANCY CIRCULAR NO. 1 OF 2021

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and competent candidates to join BDF Non-Uniformed Personnel for the following positions:

Qualifications:

University Degree in Medicine from a BHPC recognized institution.

Experience:

At least 2 years post qualification experience as a Medical Officer.

Certification:

The applicant must be registered with Botswana Health Professions Council and licensed to practice. Membership or affiliation to any local or international professional body is an added advantage.

Salary: D3 (P253 656 – P279 648) per annum

Scarce skill

Allowance: 40% of basic monthly salary as prescribed by DPSM

Doctors

Overtime allowance: 15% of basic monthly salary as prescribed by DPSM

Private Practice

Allowance: 10% of basic monthly salary

Housing and

Upkeep Allowance: P309 per month

Leave: 30 working days per annum.

Benefits:

1. Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% while employee pays 50%)
2. Contributory Pension Scheme (Government pays 15%, employee pays 5%)

Job Purpose:

Coordinate the provision of preventative, curative and rehabilitative health care services in the Botswana Defence Force.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Manage the implementation of health care policies and procedures to ensure compliance to set standards.
2. Coordinate the provision of comprehensive and timely health services to patients to ensure quality health care.

III. Coordinate health promotional and preventive interventions to the BDF community in order to improve health and prevent diseases.

1. Collaborate with Level II health facilities and develop initiatives to ensure operational efficiency.
2. Manage the implementation of quality improvement initiatives to ensure operational efficiency.
3. Develop an emergency response plan for effective and efficient emergency health care.

VII. Assess and administer appropriate medical and surgical interventions to ensure optimal recovery of patients.
