Geotechnical Engineer – MP Mining

MP Mining is a Mining Contractor for Leboam Holdings (PTY) Ltd which owns Kopano Copper Mine and Concentrator, located in the North-Eastern part of Botswana off Mosetse and Dukwi Villages. The Company is currently looking for results driven, agile and suitably qualified individuals to fill the below positions:

1. Geotechnical Engineer

Responsible for exploring and surveying the mining site thoroughly and performs various laboratory tests

on soil, rock, and groundwater samples, inspect regional weather patterns, and scope nearby terrains for

prospective hazards.

Key Performance Areas

• Assist with Development, implementation and management of the Ground Control Management Plan for the open pits.
• Perform, document and manage inspections in line with the Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery Regulations
• Complete compliance audits on ‘as built’ walls.
• Ensure that all geotechnical data is collected, validated, secured and managed in the required database format.
• Assist with the design and modelling to provide input into mine planning and design to ensure mine stability.
• Implement blast improvement initiatives for wall stability.
• Assist with the investigation, analysis and recommendations for slope failure incidents.
• Participate in the internal and external reviews for geotechnical processes.
• Assist with the development of processes, standards and procedures for the geotechnical department. Provide weekly, monthly & yearly reporting in a timely manner.
• Assist with the development, documentation and management of the geotechnical department budget.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Work experience as a Geotechnical Engineer, Geologist, or a similar position.
• Proficiency in Geotechnical engineering software such as Geo Studio, Geo5, and Flac3D.
