Section Steel Stores Operative

Reporting to: HOD Stores Manager

Standard hours: 07h30–17h00: Monday – Friday

The Company currently has a vacancy for a reliable, attentive to detail and process-driven individual to join the Stores department. The successful candidate should have sufficient understanding and experience of workshop stores and operations. A relevant Qualification or Certification is preferred (Stores, Technical, etc.)

THE CANDIDATE:

• MUST have knowledge of sectional steel.
• MUST be able to ACCURATELY read engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail when it comes to measuring and cutting steel sections.
• MUST be able to ACCURATELY read a tape measurement & set up saw stops.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy items.
• Able to maintain min. and max. stock quantities.
• Experience in using hand measuring and marking tools with the ability to measure and mark correctly and consistently according to drawings.
• Able to use initiative to predict problems.
• Be conscious of material usage and reducing waste.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Be organised and keep their work area neat and tidy.

Duties and responsibilities include.

• Ensuring agreed stock levels are maintained.
• Checking condition of stock and assisting with ad hoc and scheduled stock takes
• Calculating material usage. Responsible for the identification, handling of section steel
• Read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure products are cut to exact specifications.
• Measure and mark cutting lines on steel sections.
• Use of a bandsaw: cutting box section and tube.
• Inspect and ensure the quality of the parts produced.
• Stock updates. Monitor inventory levels and ensure stock is accurately tracked.
• Basic maintenance, cleaning of saws & sanders, replacement of saw blade.
• General housekeeping. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
