Position Overview
The Finance and Administration Officer is responsible for ensuring the efficient financial management and administrative operations of BOFWA.
This includes handling budgeting, financial reporting, procurement, and general office administration to support program implementation and organizational sustainability. The role involves working closely with the Finance and Administration Manager, program teams, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with BOFWA policies, donor requirements, and financial regulations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in finance, accounting, administration, or grants management.
- Professional certification such as AAT or CPA is an added advantage.
- Experience working in an NGO, donor-funded organization, or nonprofit setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial management systems, budgeting, and grant compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or Pastel) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in procurement and administrative processes.
- Understanding of Botswana tax laws, labor laws, and financial regulations.

- Compliance & Internal Controls: Strong understanding of donor regulations, financial controls, and audits.
- Procurement & Asset Management: Ability to oversee procurement processes and track inventory.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in financial reporting and documentation.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and make sound financial decisions.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to work with teams, vendors, and external stakeholders.
- Time Management & Multitasking: Ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines.
Work Environment & Conditions
- Based at BOFA Head Office, with occasional travel to regional centers for financial monitoring.
- Requires high attention to detail and working under tight deadlines.
- Interaction with finance teams, program staff, donors, and auditors.
- May require occasional evening or weekend work during financial reporting periods.
