PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR WANTED FOR LARGE SCALE AGRIBUSINESS

The Hurvitz Group is into large scale horticulture production under centre pivot, sprinklers, and drip irrigation in the open field or under shade nets or plastic tunnels. The Hurvitz Group is in the process of diversifying its operations to include fish farming, citrus fruits, and forage production. Hence, we are looking for 1 x Production Supervisor to join hands with other supervisors and expand the venture.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or better in Fisheries and Aquaculture or Agricultural Economics or Agronomic Sciences or Crop Production but with module(s) in fisheries or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized university. In addition, the incumbent should have traceable extensive hands on in fish, horticulture, forage, and citrus fruits farming. In addition, the successful candidate will have extensive expertise and experience in:
• Minimum 8 years’ large scale horticulture experience with emphasises on carrots, tomatoes, butternuts, onions, beetroot, peppers, watermelon, and brassicas.
• Extensive experience in fish and citrus fruits production (especially bananas and pineapple)
• Project management, budgeting, and cost control skills
• Appreciation of cashflow management dynamics
• Experience in farm machinery repairs is mandatory.
• Extensive knowledge of irrigation including drip, centre pivot, and overhead sprinklers and ability to conduct minor repair
• Extensive knowledge in agricultural engineering especially irrigation, engines, and machinery hydraulics.
• Extensive knowledge of fertigation, pesticides, and herbicides
• Self-driven and able to manage the projects start-ups with minimal supervision
• Good interpersonal communication skills
• Team player
• Ability to use MS Word, MS Excel, Internet etc. Computer programming is an added advantage.
