The Bankers Association of Botswana (BAB) represents all licensed private banks operating in Botswana. BAB advances the interests of its members and the public by advocating for progressive policies, engaging in policy dialogue, shaping national discourse, and promoting financial education and awareness.

Position Summary

BAB is seeking a visionary and dynamic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead this influential institution. This pivotal role calls for a strategic thinker and persuasive communicator who can foster collaboration, influence policy, and drive the execution of BAB’s mission and long-term vision. This is a rare opportunity to shape the national banking agenda and lead meaningful sector-wide transformation.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Lead the development and execution of BAB’s strategic plan, aligned with the Council’s vision and national priorities.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with government, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure policy alignment with member interests.

• Human Capital Management: Build a high-performing team by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent that upholds BAB’s standards of excellence.

• Public Education & Awareness: Lead nationwide financial literacy campaigns and promote responsible banking practices through strategic public education initiatives.

• Innovation & Technology: Drive the sector’s digital evolution by promoting innovation in banking and payments infrastructure.

• Visibility & Advocacy: Serve as the official spokesperson for BAB, delivering consistent, informed, and proactive engagement with the media, stakeholders, and the public.

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all legal, regulatory, and statutory obligations relevant to BAB’s operations and governance.

• Operational Oversight: Oversee day-to-day operations, including budgeting, procurement, human resources, and IT, ensuring efficient execution of internal policies and strategic objectives.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Economics, Finance, Law, Banking, Computer Science or related field.

• Ten (10) years of experience in a financial institution or similar environment with 5 years executive management experience with leadership, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy experience.
