The Role
The Tax Manager will be responsible for setting and implementing the Tax strategy for the business and managing all group tax requirements. The Tax Manager will also be managing and controlling the group’s tax compliance, including the filing of tax returns, tax planning and advising on tax matters, and managing tax audits and disputes with tax authorities. In addition, the Tax Manager will be responsible for providing technical tax advice to the business and ensuring compliance with all tax legislation. The Tax Manager will also be responsible for managing tax risks and reporting to senior management, the board, and key stakeholders.
Key Performance Areas

Working with the Group Head of Tax (based in South Africa) to develop and implement tax strategy.

Ensure local tax compliance and processes are designed to ensure the function is efficient and effective.

Preparation and submission of all tax returns (recurring) to ensure compliance with local tax legislation and group requirements.

Manage tax audits and disputes with tax authorities.
-
Provide technical tax advice to the business and ensure compliance with all tax legislation.

Manage tax risks and reporting to senior management, the board, and key stakeholders.

Review and approve all tax calculations, including VAT, internal tax, and withholding tax.

Liaise with external tax advisors and tax authorities.

Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reports for management and the board.

Preparation of tax schedules for financial statements and liaising with external auditors for tax-related matters.

Preparation of certificates for exemption and liaise with tax authorities for certificates.

Preparation of working papers, journals for tax accounting, and monthly and annual income tax provisions.

Working with the Group Tax department on health checks to improve tax compliance.

Track performance improvement and assistance with the implementation of transfer pricing documentation with Group Tax.

Provide support to the finance function on month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting activities.
Qualifications/Experience
-
ACCA or equivalent, with tax as a specialization.
-
Minimum of 7-8 years as tax specialist/analyst and accounting experience in a large or complex organization.

Experience of managing tax audits, compliance, and reporting.
-
Experience in corporate tax, VAT, and payroll tax.

Experience in managing tax compliance paperwork and tax accounting for a corporate.
Key Knowledge and Skills

Thorough understanding of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

Ability to travel (local and international).
