PROJECT COORDINATOR (BASED IN GANTSI)

BACKGROUND OF THE ORGANISATION

DITSHWANELO – The Botswana Centre for Human Rights is an advocacy organisation which plays a key role in the promotion and protection of human rights in Botswana. We seek to affirm human dignity and equality irrespective of gender, sexual orientation, social status and political convictions. In pursuit of this mission, we seek to inform, educate, train, research and counsel on issues of human rights, with specific reference to the marginalised and disempowered.

Purpose

Provide overall coordination and support to project actions, ensure and support effective paralegal service provision and smooth project implementation.

Key responsibilities:

– Overall coordination of 8 Community Paralegal Officers
– Support to project actions
– Support effective paralegal services
– Provision of smooth project implementation
– Regular reports to the Project Manager and Head Office

Qualifications and experience:

– Diploma/degree in Community Development or Social Work.
– Minimum 5 years’ work experience
– Drivers’ license (manual)
– Fluency in English speaking and writing
– Working knowledge of a local San language is an added advantage

Key competencies:

– Strong project management and organisational skills including report writing
– Excellent communication, facilitation, and advocacy skills
– Ability to manage sensitive issues with confidentiality and professionalism
– Team leadership and mentoring abilities
– Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and project management tools
