VACANCY CIRCULAR NO. 47 OF 2025 – INTERNAL
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Botswana Citizens employed with the Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs (MLGRD) for the following post tenable at Gaborone City Council.
Post: Driver II
Salary Scale: B4 (P57,348 – P65,424 per annum)
Leave: 20 working days per annum
Qualifications
•Minimum of Primary School Leaving Examination Certificate.
•Valid Heavy Duty Driver’s License (Class C1).
Experience
•At least two (2) years Class C1 Driver’s license.
•A minimum of two (2) years satisfactory service at Driver III, B5 scale.
Benefits
•Medical Aid Scheme (Optional, Contributory): Government pays 80%, employee pays 20% (standard benefit only).
•Contributory Pension Fund: Government contributes 15%, employee contributes 5% of basic salary.
Main Duties
•Drive vehicles of 3,500kg to 16,000kg tonnage, with or without trailers not exceeding 750kg, transporting goods in line with traffic regulations.
•Perform daily basic vehicle checks and report faults to supervisor.
•Maintain vehicle logbook, ensuring it is signed by the action officer before each journey.
•Repair tyre punctures, replace worn tyres, and ensure tyres are inflated correctly.
•Wash and clean vehicles.
•Report accidents to both the police and supervisor.
•Check validity of insurance and license discs, report expiry to supervisor.
•Monitor vehicle mileage and notify supervisor when service is due.
•Undertake any other related duties as directed by management.
