- Reporting to the Construction Superintendent, the Project QA/QC Mechanical Inspector will be responsible for the quality assurance on the mechanical project activities to ensure the works are constructed in accordance with the design and to operational requirements.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- To ensure that a consistently high standard of quality control and supervision is maintained for each contract.
- Ensure that current knowledge of construction services legislation, standards, methods of installation and safety, health & environment knowledge is up-to-date.
- Ensure that the standards of work and the materials supplied by contractors are as specified in accordance with the contract information.
- Identify site problems and defects in works under construction.
- Advising the Engineering Design Teams on standards of quality, finish and compliance with the required specifications.
- Maintain liaison with the Client maintenance staff and ensure that hand-over arrangements are effective.
- Monitor the performance of contractors and consultants on site and to ensure that engineering installations are constructed in accordance with scope of works; drawings and specifications.
- To attend and report on pre-contract and site meetings.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality control as per construction drawings
- Enforcement of Company Health, Safety, Environment policies and procedures to ensure safe working environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent from a recognised training institution.
- 5 years post qualification engineering experience, preferably in the mining & processing environment
- Experience in structural, plate & pipe maintenance processes
- Minimum 5 years managing a maintenance/project work team
- Computer literacy in Project Management
- Must be in possession of a valid Driver’s License.
