VACANCY: ANNOUNCEMENT

The following position exists in our Shakawe Bible Translation Project office:

Title: Exegete and Translation Coordinator

To be Based: Shakawe

Principal functions:

• To ensure quality and assurance that the Scriptures are translated as close as possible to the original languages of Greek for New Testament and Hebrew for Old Testament.
• To ensure sustainable relations between the Society and the Churches as well as the Community and all the people of God.

Qualifications:

• Master of Theology/Divinity and certificate of Applied Linguistics
• Master of Applied Linguistics AND /WITH Graduate coursework in Biblical Hebrew or Biblical Greek or Hebrew, Principles of Biblical Exegesis
• Graduate coursework in Biblical Greek or Hebrew, Principles of Biblical exegesis and translation methods – course certificate or transcript required.
• A PHD in any related field is an added advantage.

Experience:

• A minimum of 8 years.

Competencies

• Computer knowledge and skills to be able to provide technical support to the translators.
• Practical knowledge and application on using Paratext Software.
• Knowledge of and ability to use and train translators on translation software (e.g. Para-text)
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
• Skilled in ecumenism and related partners.
• Ability to hear/speak or learn quickly the Kwedwam language.
• Results oriented.
