Safety Manager

Job Purpose:

To ensure the protection of company assets and employees, by maintaining policies, standards and procedures, in respect of the Loss Control functions of security, safety, occupational health and the environment and to comply with all government legislation. He/she works with and through management, to ensure compliance with safety and environmental procedures and to assist in the achievement of profitability or productivity requirements. Serve as the staff specialist In safety by developing and carrying out procedures with the line departments that effectively control accidents and health exposures in the company and minimize OSHA citations. The role reports to the Supply Technical Manager.

Key roles and Responsibilities:

• Develop Safety Risk Management policies to include local legislation and corporate goals and assess yearly for relevance.
• Develop strategies to effectively manage and implement Safety Risk management throughout the Company with the goal of improving safety risk management practices.
• Facilitate the implementation of the safety management process throughout the Company.
• Develop and implement awareness programmes and ensure the successful implementation of the safety management programme.

• Develop and implement policies and procedures that protect company assets and employees.
• Provide professional expertise, consultancy and audit service in the disciplines of Safety Management and Control. Investigation of senous Crime. Security. Occupational Health. Safety. Fire and Explosion Protection, relevant legislated compliance to all departments.
• Facilitate the investigation and closure of all accidents and investigations.

Knowledge and Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status such as SAMTRAC with five years’ professional safety experience in manufacturing industry.

• Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills
• Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
