BLOCKMAN/BUTCHERY MEAT CUTTER

We are hiring a reliable Blockman to join our small butchery.
Must be hands-on, punctual and able to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Requirements:

• Proven practical experience as a blockman, butcher, or meat cutter (or willingness to train).

• Basic food-safety knowledge preferred.

• Able to lift up to 25 kg, stand for long periods and work flexible hours including weekends.

• Must weigh 65kg and more

• Good numeracy for weighing and pricing; neat and professional presentation.

Key Skills

• Knife skills: cutting, deboning and portioning to specification.

• Basic use and maintenance of butchery equipment (sharpening knives, safe use of saws/grinders).

• Packaging, labelling and display of retail meat. Cleanliness and hygienic food-handling practices.

• Customer service and teamwork.

Main responsibilities

• Cut, trim, debone and portion carcasses and primal cuts for retail and customer orders.

• Prepare and package products, weigh and label items accurately.

• Maintain clean work area and follow sanitation and safety procedures.

• Keep knives and small equipment sharp and in good condition.

• Assist with stock rotation, storage and display replenishment. Follow health & safety rules and report faults or incidents promptly.
