Overview

The Biomedical Technical Engineer is to represent Thompson Medical and the company’s products in the supervision, maintenance and quality control as per products represented by Thompson Medical and as per manufacturing requirements, as in, but not limited to, regular maintenance and support at customer’s placement of equipment. The Biomedical Technical Engineer shall continually assess customer needs and requirements while providing input to the maintenance and quality cycle/control. Coordinate and direct production, operations, quality assurance, testing or maintainable in industrial plants.

Must be willing to travel in Botswana and across Border. Central office in Gaborone.

Biomedical Technical Engineer will perform the following non-exclusive duties:

Business Management




The employee shall:

  • Develop well thought out maintenance and quality control standards and account profiles and execute these strategies to achieve planned targeted revenue for those product lines he/she is responsible for.
  • Develop business opportunities with new and existing clients to maintain product loyalty and increase market share. This includes identifying Key Opinion Leaders and building strong business relationships with these customers.

  • Conduct maintenance and quality reviews including market share analysis and adjust strategies & tactics accordingly to ensure that the execution of plans is in line with company goals.
  • Maintain close relationships with key accounts and ensure full customer satisfaction by providing appropriate Thompson Medical products and services in response to the customer’s needs. This involves appraising customer needs and advising on product application or services
  • Provide clinical and technical support during cases and inform the clinician of patient treatment options. Engage customers in meaningful clinical discussions – which can positively impact patient outcomes – while being present in the procedure.
  • Conduct product in-services, including physical demonstrations using non-sterile product and evaluations for successful account conversion and maintenance.
  • Strive to provide “win/win” outcomes for Thompson Medical & customers while maintaining premium ASPs.
  • Assist with tender submission regarding applicable inputs such as, but not limited to, maintenance and quality assurance, placement of capital equipment, etc.

Monitoring & Reporting

The employee shall




  • Monitor country equipment performance on an ongoing basis, initiate corrective actions, and prepare reports, summaries, analysis and documentation an all aspects of the country.
  • Submit monthly reports including all placed and in-house equipment functionality and set service requirements, unit performance vs. budgets, competitor activity and market related information.

Administration

The employee shall




  • Ensure that customer data base is regularly updated and maintained.
  • Ensure that consignment policy is adhered to according to company protocol.
  • Submit all required reports timeously, completed in full.
  • Monitor and keep within monthly expense budgets.

Sales

  • Analyze competitor strategies and tactics and stay abreast of latest developments in the market and analyze market trends
  • Acquire and maintain specific knowledge on all areas related to the success of the product portfolio
  • Develop, present and implement sales and marketing strategy
  • Meet or exceed defined territory sales objectives (Annexure A – Performance Agreement)
  • Meet or exceed the defined territory growth objectives and market share goals in accordance with agreed priorities (Annexure A – Performance Agreement)
  • Manage a sizable basket of allocated products
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of products and how each product is best used
  • Ensure consignment stock held on clients’ premises is managed impeccably. Consignment stock must be counted weekly and re-ordered immediately if additional stock is required in coordination with the team inventory supervisor and client procuring officer.

Sales Achievement

  • Achieving or exceeding agreed sales targets
  • Adhere to company strategy and promotional messaging
  • Develop and manage key accounts/customers
  • Achieve to agreed call rate by customer type
  • Responsible for the delivery of value-added services to targeted key accounts to create increase
  • Identify potential sales and marketing opportunities

  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities or customer complaints relating to the product, procedure and quality system.

Assist in the development of lesser-experienced sales reps to extend skill sets and expertise of these individuals.
