JOB SUMMARY
To act as a liaison conduit between the company, Government, Regulators and other agencies including; (UPU, SAPOA, PAPU and other Postal Bodies regionally and globally). To promote legislative efforts that are beneficial to the organization and collaborate with public communications officers on campaigns to earn the backing of government officials, shareholder and the public. To stay current on existing and proposed legislation, meeting with central and local government officials and lobbyists and update management on relevant laws and regulations. To facilitate alignment of the company strategy to that of Government and other related postal bodies. To influence the standards for a company’s operating procedures and help develop company policies concerning business operating procedures and compliance.
The position reports to Chief of Staff
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* To promote legislative efforts that are beneficial to the organization and collaborate with communications officers on campaigns to earn the backing of government officials, shareholder and the public.
* Maintains effective relationships with Ministries, Universal Postal Union, BOCRA and other critical stakeholders.
* Facilitates alignment of the company strategy to that of Government and other related postal bodies (UPU, SAPOA, PAPU).
* To regularly update the Ministerial scorecard, as set out on the Annual Performance Plan, and liase with Ministry Performance Improvement Co-ordinator for updates.
* Develops regulatory strategies and implementation plans for the new postal products and services and ensure compliance to all regulations.
* Participates in the development or implementation of regulations affecting Botswana Post.
* To influence the standards for a company’s operating procedures and help develop company policies concerning business operating procedures and compliance.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Degree in Business Administration, Social Science, or equivalent field with knowledge in International affairs and government relations. Postal Industry specific training or experience, Quality management systems exposure, Business Law and strategy certification will be and added advantage.
EXPERIENCE:
* A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant work experience on stakeholder management or regulatory affairs role, legislative office, or similar organization. Demonstrated experience building relationships across diverse organizations and with individuals. A proven track record with project management and evaluation. Any work experience in an external relations environment will be an added advantage. Proficiency in the use of software solutions such as MS Office.
