The Copyright Society of Botswana (COSBOTS) is a private company limited by guarantee. It is mandated under the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act, Cap 68:02 of 2006, to administer collective rights management, including the licensing, collection, and equitable distribution of royalties to rights holders across all categories of works protected under the Act.
COSBOTS invites suitably qualified, self-motivated and result-oriented individuals to apply for the following position: ICT & Data Protection Officer.
Main Purpose of the Job:
- Lead the planning, deployment, and maintenance of COSBOTS ICT infrastructure, systems, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Ensure the stability, security, and scalability of all technology platforms supporting operations, licensing, and royalty distribution.
- Oversee network performance, cloud adoption, server management, and end-user support.
- Manage ICT budgets, vendors, contracts, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Implement and continuously improve COSBOTS ICT & Cybersecurity Policy (Version 3.0).
- Oversee identity and access management, endpoint protection, and incident response.
- Ensure full compliance with the Botswana Data Protection Act, 2018, including privacy impact assessments, consent management, and data subject rights.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to IT and security teams.
- Report regularly to the Executive Management on ICT and data protection posture.
- Collaborate with the Legal, Finance, and Operations departments to align cybersecurity and data governance objectives with COSBOTS’ business strategy.
Key Responsibilities

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, or Business Intelligence and Data Analytics.
- Professional certifications such as CISM, CISSP, CDPO, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of the Botswana Data Protection Act (2018), Cybersecurity Bill (2025), and relevant ICT standards (ISO/IEC 27001, NIST).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a ICT management, cybersecurity, or data protection roles. 3 of those years should have been at management level.
- Driver Licenses Class B.
- Strategic thinking and governance acumen.
- Strong technical background in network, endpoint, cloud security.
- High integrity, confidentiality, and ethical judgment.
- Effective stakeholder engagement and departmental collaboration.
- Proactive problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.
