purpose
To define, optimise and operationally implement a legal collections process through management of the legal collection portfolio, specialists, Residual Accounts, Attorneys in order to reduce the bad debt portfolio and increase the Profit by recovering from the off-balance sheets accounts.
experience and qualifications
- Minimum qualification : Bachelor of Commerce in Law, LLB
- Experience : 5 to 8 years’ experience in a similar environment
- In-depth knowledge of the Bank’s Credit Policy.
- Knowledge of Legal Terms.
responsibilities
- Adhere to organisational policies and procedures to ensure cost effectiveness and reduction of financial costs.
- Collect arrears and negotiate acceptable payment arrangements and settlements, in line with mandate.
- Manage costs / expenses within approved budget to achieve cost efficiencies.
- Reduce the Non-Performing Loans and Provisions by collecting on all the newly relegated accounts into NPL
- Drive the increase of business revenue and loss reduction through implementation of collections and recoveries processes.
- Monitor and control financial governance and compliance throughout an area of specialisation in order to manage financial cost.
- Develop and ensure implementation of practices which builds service delivery excellence and encourage others to provide exceptional customer service
- Contribute to a culture of customer service excellence by making sure that external stakeholders adhere to Service Level Agreements in place, which builds positive relationships and provides opportunity for feedback and exceptional service.
- Deliver exceptional service through educating the client, offering an appropriate solution and ensuring the relationship is maintained.
- Integrate business information, compare, analyse and produce reports to identify trends, discrepancies and inconsistencies for decision making purposes
- Plan for value-added process and service improvement to deliver on operational plans and objectives; enhancing operational excellence.
- Provide specialist input through the investigation of opportunities for operational, process, quality, standard and service optimisation.
- Initiate process and procedural change, implement the change and provide guidelines and support related to new requirements as a result of the change.
- Draw on own knowledge and experience to diagnose symptoms, causes and possible effects in order to solve emerging problems within the legal collections environment.
- Carry out collections processes within mandate, meeting all targets and quality standards.
- Continuously monitor team’s compliance quality and implement improvements where required.
- Define processes that effectively manage objective and professional relationships and SLAs with relevant external parties.
- Develop and/or align governance and compliance policies in own practice area to identify and manage risk exposure liability
- Comply with governance in terms of legislative and audit requirements.
- Prepare accounts for litigation by compiling all the documents before handing them to the legal team.
- Prepare the provisions report for the products assigned
- Review and Submission of all the reports required from Legal
- Write off the accounts as per the assigned products write off policy
- Ensure adherence to both internal and external Service Level Agreements
- Manage and monitor risk to ensure that all processes fall within the risk and audit guidelines. Investigate and implement measures to correct audit findings.
- Investigate, analyse and develop organisational best practices; ensuring and encouraging adherence to an operational framework of policies and procedures
- Recommend and positively influence, direct and implement changes to optimise organisational processes, systems, policies and procedures.
- Plan and manage performance, skills development, succession and talent management and culture of team in order to improve performance and competence.
- Participate in specialist communities of practice and contribute positively to own and organisational knowledge improvement.
- Participate and contribute to a learning and growth culture where information regarding successes, issues, trends and ideas are actively shared.
