JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will regulate, supervise and implement a timely, full and accurate set of accounting books of the Commission, reflecting all the activities in a manner commensurate with relevant legislation and regulations in the territories of operation of the Commission, as well as, to ensure effective management and utilisation of finances and assets.

The incumbent will be responsible for among other things, the following:

- Participating in the development and implementation of the Commission’s business strategy and overseeing the development and implementation of the finance strategy to support the business strategy.
-
- Overseeing the development and performance of control systems, the flow of funds, as well as, monitoring expenditures against budget.
-
- Overseeing the accurate maintenance of accounts of all financial transactions.
-
- Overseeing the preparation of accurate financial reports, including, those reports required by legislation and regulations in the territories of the operation of the Commission.
-
- Ensuring profitability of the Commission, as well as, optimising return on investments and also optimising return on surplus funds through short, medium and long-term investments.

- Managing the Commission’s foreign currency transactions.

- Ensuring minimal audit queries.

- Training and development of financial and accounting staff.
THE PERSON
The right candidate must meet the following minimum requirements;
-
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or related business area, as well as, an internationally recognised professional qualification, such as ACCA/CA, or equivalent qualification from an internationally recognised professional accountancy Institution.

- Possess at least ten (10) years’ post professional qualification experience in a highly computerised commercial accounting and financial management function.

- Have experience with international trade, investment and funds management.
