Job Purpose
To plan, coordinate and control the activities of Mechanical Maintenance Department to ensure maximum availability and performance to agreed standards in terms of plant reliability, availability, technical efficiency, environmental impact and safety at an acceptable cost and risk. The role will oversee formulation of Mechanical Maintenance policies, codes and standards within the Power Station for adherence to safety and environmental compliance. Executions and / or coordination of (specialized) engineering works.

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities

Installation, Maintenance and Repair
Troubleshoots and diagnoses highly complex equipment and systems for emergency repairs, applies expertise to lead major equipment re-builds and guides planned installation of complex systems.
Contract Management
Manages and delivers required outcomes for a portfolio of contracts and negotiates service level agreements while planning, coordinating and supervising activities related to major contracts.
Improvement / Innovation
Identifies shortcomings, then suggests and implements improvements to existing business practices, while developing and delivering projects or a work stream within the organization’s change management program with guidance from senior colleagues.
Knowledge Management
Manages the development and/or operation of knowledge management system with guidance from senior colleagues.
Policy Development & Implementation
Develops procedures for area of expertise with guidance from senior colleagues, then monitors implementation of those procedures within the Power Station.
Product & Solution Development
Evaluates the feasibility/relevance of proposed solutions, then develops and/or delivers a plan for significant aspects of the development program with guidance from senior colleagues.
Project Management
Manages and delivers required outcomes for a portfolio of projects while reporting to senior colleagues.
Qualifications
General Education
A relevant degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent. Membership of a professional engineering institution will be an advantage
Experience
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years relevant post qualification experience of which, at least 2 years in a management capacity.
Knowledge and experience of the electricity industry in general, and power generation in particular will be an advantage. Fossil-fired power generation is required.
Experience in a maintenance environment required.
Managerial Experience
A minimum of 2 years experience in planning and managing resources to deliver predetermined objectives as specified by management
