Collections & Recoveries Team Leader – Gaborone

As the Collections and Recoveries Team Leader, you are expected to achieve desired Non Performing Loans targets and recovery targets by contacting customers to secure payment arrangements and managing vendor relationships in line with SLA’s and agreed financial targets as well as implementation of recovery strategies; with a particular focus on identifying and implementing priority strategies <i.e. balances within each bucket!. The role entails Management of collections team to effectively give guidance.

The successful candidate will therefore proactively manage queries from internal and external customers, have a thorough understanding of the Bank’s core banking system and preparation of hand over accounts to Debt Collecting Agencies (DCA’s> in line with the applicable strategy Expectation is to also instruct attorneys to start litigating against defaulting customers Once allocated to attorneys or DCA the Team Leader will be expected to track progress and meet regularly with attorneys to manage their performance in line with SLA’s (typically weekly).

Excellent knowledge of retail banking products is essential The ideal candidate must have strong ability to negotiate and influence across all levels including senior stakeholders; strong verbal and written communication skills; Flexible and driven to succeed; Problem-solving & query resolution skills; Sound presentation, facilitation and negotiation skills and a solution driven

Key requirements for this role;

Relevant Business Degree and Certificate in Banking or retail credit management 5+ years’ banking experience encompassing the experience of Retail products. Retail collections & Recoveries
